Outstanding Freshmen and Sophomore Award
The purpose of this award is to acknowledge students who have been active in various capacities during their freshman or sophomore year at the university.  The award is given by the Illinois Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society whose motto is integrity and excellence in engineering.  Tau Beta Pi encourages its members to be involved in service and liberal culture activities.  You DO NOT need to be a member of Tau Beta Pi to apply for this award.  The award carries a monetary award of $250.  One award will be given for service during the sophomore, defined here as your second year of post-secondary study, and one for freshman year, your first year regardless of hours earned.
